Frequently Asked Questions
At Wishbone Weddings, we understand you want every detail of your special day to be perfect, especially when it comes to your beloved pet. Here are some of the most common questions we receive to help you understand our services better.
General Services & What's Included
Q: What exactly does a wedding pet chaperone do?
A: As your dedicated pet chaperone, I ensure your furry friend is a cherished and stress-free part of your wedding day. This includes everything from safe transportation to and from the venue, pre-ceremony comfort walks, on-site care (feeding, water, comfort breaks, and medicating if required), managing guest interactions, assisting with photos, and providing a quiet space for rest. My goal is to allow you to relax and enjoy your day, knowing your pet is in expert hands.
Q: Do you offer different packages?
A: Yes, we offer a range of tailored packages designed to suit various wedding day needs and pet personalities. Each package provides a comprehensive set of services, and they are also completely customisable to fit your specific vision. Please visit our Packages page for more detailed information.
Q: Do you take photos of our pet on the day?
A: Absolutely! Beyond expert care, I specialise in capturing beautiful, candid moments of your pets throughout their time at the wedding. These become wonderful, unique keepsakes of their involvement in your special celebration. You can see examples of our pet photography in our Photo Gallery and Wedding Stories.
Q: Can you look after more than one dog?
A: Yes, absolutely! We are experienced in chaperoning multiple dogs at weddings. The number of dogs we can comfortably care for depends on their individual temperaments, sizes, and the specific needs of your wedding day. We'll discuss all these details during our pre-wedding consultation to ensure every one of your furry family members receives the dedicated attention they deserve.
Your Expertise & Pet Care
Q: What are your qualifications for handling pets at a wedding?
A: I am a qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse with over 20 years of experience in animal care. This extensive background means I am highly skilled in understanding animal behaviour, providing first aid if needed, and ensuring the utmost safety and comfort for your pet throughout the day. You can learn more about my background on our About Us page.
Q: My dog is quite lively/anxious. Can you still help?
A: Yes! My 20 years of experience as a vet nurse means I am adept at handling a wide range of temperaments, from the most energetic to the most timid. My extensive continuing professional development (CPD) in animal behaviour throughout my career, and the behaviour course I am currently undertaking, further enhance my ability to understand and manage various canine personalities. We conduct a thorough pre-wedding consultation to understand your pet's personality and needs, creating a bespoke plan to ensure they are comfortable, happy, and well-managed throughout the day. We focus on positive reinforcement and creating a calm, secure environment.
Q: What if my pet needs a comfort break or gets stressed during the event?
A: Regular comfort breaks are built into our schedule, and I am constantly monitoring your pet's well-being. If they show any signs of stress or need a break from the excitement, I will immediately take them to a quiet, designated safe space for rest and reassurance, away from the main festivities. Their comfort and safety are always the priority.
Logistics & Planning
Q: How far in advance should we book your services?
A: We recommend booking as soon as you have your wedding date and venue confirmed, especially if you're getting married during peak season. Our availability is limited to ensure dedicated, personalised care for each client.
Q: Do you travel to our wedding venue?
A: Yes, we provide services across the North East of England and beyond. Travel costs are typically included within a certain radius or outlined in our packages. Please contact us with your venue location for a precise quote.
Q: Can my pet stay overnight at the venue?
A: This depends on the venue's pet policy. If the venue is pet-friendly and allows overnight stays, we can discuss arrangements for extended care. Alternatively, we can safely transport your pet back home or to a designated family friend's house after their wedding duties are complete, ensuring they are settled in.
Q: What information do you need about our pet?
A: During our consultation, we'll cover everything from their routine, dietary needs, exercise habits, favourite toys, any medical conditions or medications, and their general temperament around people and other animals. The more information you provide, the better we can care for them.
